Here is the 2nd of our 2nd grade language arts main lessons (the other being Saints and Heroes).
These are morality tales, tales which carry important lessons for children as they seek to find their own relationship to good and evil and to the nuances of human interaction. Never moralizing, these short stories, many from Aesop's or the Buddhist Jataka tales, are satisfying in their simplicity and timelessness.
The 10 stories included are:
- The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse
- The Wise Goat and the Wolves
- The Tortoise and the Hare
- The Hungry Fox
- Rabbit's Money Crop
- The Wolf and the Lamb
- Foolish Words
- The Mouse and the Lion
- The Hare and the Crocodile
- The Old Man and the Bear
Each story includes a related activity and most also include instructions or helpful line drawings. Five full color main lesson book pictures with sample writing are also included as well as guidance on how to create a main lesson book. There are two further sections on expectations around writing and drawing and guidance on telling stories.
Please note: this volume is a component of the Christopherus 2nd Grade Curriculum Package but also stands completely on its own for those not using the full curriculum.
