Speaking of discipline with a tiny child is of course absurd. However, it is precisely during these early months that one needs to build the foundations which meet the little child’s needs and therefore sidestep most so-called discipline problems. Understanding why stressed out over-stimulated toddlers react the way they do and how the simple rhythmic forms of the day and the week can avoid most problems is key. As the child grows, she changes but imitation, rhythm, clear forms and boundaries and avoiding all over-stimulation (like screens and like doing too much outside the home) continue to help.
