Financial Help for Homeschoolers
At Christopherus we try very hard to help those with financial challenges who wish to use our materials to homeschool. We have not raised our prices in years although our costs, like those of most small businesses, have risen.
Over the years we have tried to offer various discounts to people but in this terrible economic climate we are no longer able to do this: we are simply too small a business to absorb the loss of income. We hope our friends and customers understand our position. We encourage people to seek financial help in other ways including what we list below.
Here’s what we have come up with and we sincerely hope this helps!
- We now offer free shipping on all US orders over $125.
- We now offer an installment plan, to customers in the US, through Stripe so you can spread out your payments.
- We now print all of our publications through Lulu. Lulu prints in various countries around the world and therefore international shipping rates are calculated at domestic or other low rates! So if you are in Italy, for example, Lulu, who prints in France as well as in the US and other places, will calculate your shipping not from the US, but from the EU. To check shipping rates, please put items you are interested in into your shopping cart in our bookstore to see what the calculation is (Lulu’s shipping rates are calculated via out bookstore software).
And we are now becoming vendors for various programs in the US which help fund materials for homeschoolers. So far, we have been accepted as a vendor by these programs (this list will be frequently updated as we are accepted as vendors by additional states).
If you know of such a program in your state, please send us the details. Also, do note that some programs require that a parent request a company (such as Christopherus) be accepted as a vendor. We would be very grateful if those of you living where this applies would help us become vendors.
We are exploring working with the Braintree Trust which serves Idaho, Indiana, North Dakota, Oklahoma and Wyoming. Contacting them and expressing interest in purchasing Christopherus materials via the Braintree Trust could be helpful. – https://www.braintree4me.com
These folks say that they give funds to parents to develop their own programs. They themselves seem totally tech-focused but who knows? They do not have vendors as such so it is up to parents to request information from them and see what is possible: https://opened.co
