The Student Workbook for 7th grade human physiology covers part 1 of this course (part 2 takes place in 8th grade). Please note that you need the Teacher’s Guide to use these materials.

The Student Workbook opens with a focus on living happily in a body, appreciating both the universality and individuality of the human condition. The focus is on helping your child rejoice in living in his male body or in her female body.

We then move on to health and well-being, specifically to diet and the student keeps a food log for the 4 weeks of the main lesson. During the week on digestion, he looks a bit more deeply at food, at proteins, carbohydrates and so on. This subject matter is kept quite open so you can focus on the food choices your family makes and which your seventh grader will ask you about during this main lesson. This subject is deepened in 8th grade when your child researches different kinds of diets and also covers food chemistry in her chemistry studies.

Your student will use her Workbook for reading the text; recording notes from her research; copying pictures and diagrams; writing out summaries; and other work. A crucial part of this main lesson is conversation with you, her Teacher and also her parent. Why you make health and diet choices will be touched on in 7th grade and explored further in 8th grade.
